Blade and Bow Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey will be the official bourbon of the 2017 Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event Presented by Land Rover.
“Blade and Bow Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey is proud to serve our legendary whiskey at such a prestigious event,” said Jeff Parrott, American Whiskey Development. “Utilizing some of the last remaining liquid from Stitzel-Weller Distillery, which we affectionately call the Cathedral of Bourbon, Blade and Bow is rooted deep in Kentucky. We like to think horsing is in our blood, as Stitzel-Weller Distillery opened on Derby Day in 1935.”
The Blade and Bow story began with the founding of the legendary Stitzel-Weller Distillery in 1935, a Louisville icon and home to the fathers of bourbon. With a commitment to craftsmanship and artistry, Stitzel-Weller reimagined what Kentucky Bourbon could be. Named after the two parts of a skeleton key, the blade shaft and the ornate bow, the Blade and Bow brand is a tribute to the five keys that once hung on the door of the Stitzel-Weller Distillery, representing the five steps of crafting bourbon-grains, yeast, fermentation, distillation and aging. But more importantly, they grew to symbolize the southern traditions of hospitality, warmth and enjoying the finer things in life.
As the official bourbon of the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event, Blade and Bow and a featured cocktail will be available in the hospitality bars and concessions throughout the event. Blade and Bow will also be featured at the Thursday night Farm-To-Table fundraising dinner for Central Kentucky Riding for Hope.
“This is one of those partnerships that just make sense,” said Stewart Perry, president of the board of directors of Equestrian Events, Inc., the organizer of the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event. “Like the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event, Blade and Bow has grown straight out of the Bluegrass. I know our bourbon-loving fans are going to enjoy the Blade and Bow experience at this year’s event.”
Known as the “Best Weekend All Year,” the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event returns to the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Ky., April 27-30, 2017. “Rolex Kentucky” is one of only six Four Star Three-Day Events in the world and the only one in the Western Hemisphere.
Equestrian Events, Inc. is a non-profit charitable Kentucky corporation that was established initially to produce the 1978 World Three-Day Event Championships at the Kentucky Horse Park. Following the success of those championships, EEI established an annual event that evolved into the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event.
