A Florida native, Steve began riding and competing as a young boy. He later went on to train with the US Equestrian Team and to become a champion numerous times all over the world. He has won many events such as the Cleveland Grand Prix, American Gold Cup, AGA Championships, and the Grand Prix of Montreal. He has also been a member of many top-finishing Nations Cups teams in the United States, Italy, Belgium, and Mexico.

Studying and assisting course designers such as Dr. Arno Gego and Bertalan DeNemethy during World Cup finals and Olympic Games gave Steve a great platform early on in his career as a course designer. Steve is now a highly sought after course designer and was awarded the honor of course designing the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games alongside Leopoldo Palacios of Venezuela.
